Scott Smith is the co-owner, director of wholesale partnerships, and lead designer of Roots & Routes Co., a family-run woodworking studio based in Woodstock, Illinois. Alongside his wife Kelly, Scott creates handcrafted wooden maps, ornaments, and travel keepsakes designed to help people commemorate the places and experiences that matter most to them.
With a background in design and a passion for storytelling through objects, Scott focuses on product development, wholesale partnerships, and business strategy. Roots & Routes Co. has grown from a small maker business into a nationally distributed brand, with products carried by tourism retailers and national park partners across the country, including Yellowstone National Park. Scott is especially interested in building sustainable, community-rooted businesses and supporting local entrepreneurship through collaboration and shared experience.
