Every year, breast cancer touches someone we know - a mother, a sister, a coworker, a friend. And every year, early detection remains one of our most powerful tools in the fight against it. But for too many in McHenry County, that first step - a routine screening - feels out of reach.

As more families in our community cannot afford health insurance, Family Health Partnership Clinic has seen a steady rise in new patients seeking care they can no longer get elsewhere. Preventative screenings are often the first thing to fall by the wayside when a family is weighing paying for insurance against paying for rent or groceries. But cancer doesn't wait for someone's finances to catch up - and neither should care.

That's where Care4 comes in. Last year, more than 2,000 people showed up on a freezing cold, rainy, blustery morning - because they believe everyone deserves healthcare! Together, they helped raise over $235,000, funds that went directly toward mammograms and screenings for uninsured women (and men!) across our community. Women who might otherwise put off care simply because they couldn't afford it. Every dollar raised helps ensure that a lack of insurance is never the reason someone skips a screening that could save their life.
